South Dublin Libraries Local Studies are proud to have been part of the creation of this important oral history endeavour by Maurice and Jane O’Keeffe. Irish Life and Lore launched the set of interviews today, handing over the first copy to Dr. Sandra Collins, director of the National Library of Ireland. President Michael D. Higgins was present at the launch, and spoke of the significance of the project. His speech is available HERE
The set of interviews contains the collective memories of 245 descendents of 1916 participants and gives some unique personal insights into the pivotal events of 100 years ago.
A copy of the collection will be held in the County Library, Tallaght, and will be available for public consultation.
